A test to detect infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma species, and Ureaplasma species โ bacteria and parasites linked to genital infections.
๐ What is it?
- Trichomonas vaginalis is a parasite causing trichomoniasis, a common sexually transmitted infection (STI) often with symptoms like discharge and irritation.
- Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma are types of bacteria that can colonize the urogenital tract, sometimes causing symptoms like urethritis, pelvic pain, or infertility.
This test detects the presence of these organisms using urine or swab samples from the genital area.
๐งช What does it measure?
- DNA or RNA of Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Ureaplasma parvum
- Uses nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) for high sensitivity and specificity
- Samples from urine, urethra, cervix, or vaginal swabs

- Avoid urinating for at least 1 hour before providing a urine sample
- Swabs may be self-collected or taken by a healthcare professional depending on symptoms and site tested
